It's been a while since I shared a little back story of how my cards get created, so I thought I'd give you a little glimpse into the history of one of my newest cards: the cupcake parade!
When I first got started with SquidCat, Ink, I doodled this little cake stealing party of mice as a potential birthday card design:
Somehow, it didn't quite work for me. I loved the big rats and their funny teeth, and the little mouse being carried away by the balloon, but I was wary that perhaps not everyone would find them as cute as me. In the end, I forgot about it and the drawing stayed ignored in my sketchbook for a good 4-5 years! Recently, I was flipping through some old work looking for inspiration and came across it again, and thought that with a little tweaking, it would still make a great card, and so I decided to give it a redraw. You can see the results below!
